תרומת פיסול ילדים בשואה

היצירה ילדים בשואה נתרמה לשגרירות הנוצרית הבינלאומית ירושלים

היצירה "ילדים בשואה" נולדה מתוך קשר עמוק שלי, כיוצרת, לחוויית השואה. הקשר שלי לשואה החל בשנת 1950 כאשר הכרתי את בעלי דוד שוויצר ז"ל, שהיה ניצול שואה. אני נולדתי בארץ בשנת 1935, הורי עלו מפולין של לפני המלחמה. בעלי עלה לארץ בשנת 1949 , יחד עם אימו לאה ז"ל, ואחותו מניה ז"ל. הוא שרת בצה"ל וביחד איתי הקים משפחה. ניתן לומר שחייתי בצל סיפורי השואה מאותה עת.

בעלי עבר את השואה כילד בן 11 ואחותו הייתה בת 14. סיפור אחד הטביע בי חותם מיוחד וקשור ביצירה: בתקופת המלחמה בעלי, שהיה ילד, ברח לוורשה ביחד עם אחותו ועם יהודים רבים מהעיר זדונסקה וולה. במהלך בריחה זו איבד את אחותו ועבר מסע ארוך של נדודים והישרדות לבד, עד אשר הצליח בכוחות עצמו לחבור שוב למשפחתו. לאחר מכן נשלח לאושוויץ עם אחותו מניה ואמו מגטו לודז שם עבר מסכת ייסורים .
בעלי ואחותו נפטרו ממחלה במהלך חודש אחד בשנת 1980 כאילו נדרו נדר,
לא להיפרד עוד לעולם.

אחרי מותם נשאתי מחדש לגיסי, שלמה ויסוצקי, שהיה בעלה של מניה, שגם הוא ניצול שואה ובכך המשכנו ביחד לשמר את זכרם ואת סיפורי השואה.

"ילדים בשואה" נוצרה בשנת 2000, שנה זו הוכרזה כשנת ילדים בשואה. היצירה מבטאת את מכלול התחושות והרגשות אשר מלות אותי שנים ארוכות עם ניצולי שואה, והביאה לידי ביטוי מסר פנימי שמציג את מקומם של הילדים, חסרי האונים, בתוך עולם קשה. היצירה מבטאת את המפגש שלי עם שירים וציורים של ילדים בזמן השואה, והציטוטים מתוך דברים שכתבו וציירו ילדי טרזנשטט

The Sculpture “Children in the Holocaust”–
Donated to the International Christian Embassy in Jerusalem
The Sculpture “Children in the Holocaust” was created out of my deep personal connection as an artist to the Holocaust. I was born in 1935 in “Eretz-Israel”, which at the time was called Palestine under the British mandate, to parents who arrived to Israel from Poland just before the Second World War. My interest in the holocaust first began when I met my late husband David Shwitzer, a holocaust survivor, in 1950. He had then just arrived in Israel the previous year accompanied by his late mother Leah and his late sister Manya. David served in the Israeli Defense Force shortly afterwards. Since the day we started a family together, my life has been deeply affected by the constant shadow of the holocaust.

My husband’s survival story has left an imprint in my mind that has greatly influenced me throughout the years: as an eleven years old by, he escaped to Warsaw with his sister (then fourteen) and a few other jews from the town of Zdonska-vola. On the way he lost his sister, and endured a long journey of wandering and survival on his own, until he managed to reunite with his family many months later. A few months later, he was sent away from the Lodz ghetto, along with his mother and sister to Auschwitz. My husband David and his sister both passed away in 1980 within the same month, as if they vowed never to be separated again.

After their death, I married Shlomo Wissotzky – Manya’s husband. Shlomo is also a holocaust survivor, and so together we have continued to carry their memory and the stories of the holocaust with us.

I created the sculpture “Children in the Holocaust” during 2000, which was declared as the year of the children in the holocaust. The work expresses the emotions and thoughts which I have carried with me throughout the years of living alongside holocaust survivors. The work puts forward the inner feeling that presents the children - helpless and innocent in such an extremely harsh reality. The works is meant to convey my personal experience with those how were once children in the holocaust, together with parts of writings and drawings by the children in Thresienstadt.
